Industrial DC-Grids

Industrial LVDC grids are ready for implementation through Europe-wide, multi-year research and development projects. Compared to LVAC grids, the amount of wiring is halved, energy efficiency is improved due to lower conversion losses and direct energy exchange between electronic devices, and the integration of storage and PV is much easier.  The panel discussion will focus on the benefits, present implementation projects and the market ramp-up supported by DC alliances.

MegaWatt Charging Meets the Grid
Challenges and their Impact in the Speed of Roll-out

The electrification of commercial heavy-duty trucks necessitates the development of more advanced charging technologies, with megawatt charging as a key solution. In comparison to the conventional European CCS charging standard, the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) offers significantly higher charging power and however also new challenges, particularly in terms of power electronics and the impact of MCS charging stations on the existing power grid. This Industry forum, led by industry experts, will explore the current state and prospects of MCS charging from views of electric heavy-duty trucks, charging infrastructure and the power grid.

Power electronics is facing a significant change - the market launch of wide bandgap semiconductors and the imminent emergence of ultra-wide bandgap devices are pushing the boundaries of what is technically and economically feasible. At the same time, the enormous market growth requires greater efficiency from developers. Both lead to enormous challenges for measurement technology in power electronics, which will be discussed in this session with experts from the relevant industry.
